  [GO TO EXTENSION PROGRAMS HOMEPAGE]

ANYONE WHO WISHES TO TAKE AN EXTENSION COURSE, MUST FILL OUT ONE OF THE FOLLOWING APPLICATIONS.  PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO YOU:

GRADUATE SPECIAL STUDENT

Hearing, deaf, and hard-of-hearing students who wish to receive graduate-level, Gallaudet credit for an extension course must apply as a Graduate Special Student.  These credits may be transferable to other home institutions; however, one must get approval from that institution. Students may take extension courses with a 600 or 700 number (i.e., LIN 661, EDU 795) to receive graduate credits.

  • Fill out the:

    • Extension Program Application Form (PDF) This form includes the application form, payment form, and where to send the form in your area. (Do not fill out this form if you have taken a course within the past five years AND if your address, phone number, or email hasn't changed)

  • Send college transcripts (unofficial, is fine), along with the completed form and payment, to the Regional Center where the course will be taken.

Note: Admission as a special student does not constitute admission to a degree program at Gallaudet University. If special students later wish to become candidates for a degree program, they must meet the established admission requirements listed in the graduate catalog.

UNDERGRADUATE

These credits may be transferable to other institutions; however, one must get approval from that institution. Students are eligible to take extension courses with a 400 or 600 number (i.e., EDU 495, LIN 661).

Note: Admission as a special student does not constitute admission to a degree program at Gallaudet University. If special students later wish to become candidates for a degree program, they must meet the established admission requirements listed in the undergraduate catalog.

PROFESSIONAL STUDIES AND TRAINING

Courses with the prefix PST are continuing education credits offered for professionals who may not desire academic credits. These credits are not applicable to a Gallaudet degree. These
courses carry full college continuing-education credit and students will receive a college transcript upon completion of each course.

While Professional Studies and Training cannot be applied to degree programs at Gallaudet University, they may be transferable to other universities and will often satisfy requirements for continuing education and professional development. Students are eligible to take extension courses with a PST prefix.  Tuition for PST credit is discounted $100 per credit.
